INVENTIONS
The title of this series of drawings refers to the short musical compositions that combine simple individual melodies to form complex harmonies. Some of the still lifes incorporate three-dimensional forms and two-dimensional diagrams, while recent drawings add floating elements to increase the play of light and shadow in the composition. Many of the works connect all these parts under a unifying concept inspired by geometry, science fiction, or esoterica. The newest of these works are chiaroscuro metalpoint drawings, made of silver, copper, gold, palladium, and sometimes other metals, worked on top of toned casein ground, with white gouache highlights added to enhance the contrast and increase dimensionality.
